Editors' Take
Make rock-and-roll dreams come true at this benefit featuring live soul and indie rock bands, a DJ set by drummer Martin Atkins, and auctioned merch from The Faint, OK Go and more.
Carlos Torres (Creative Director, Music Editor) and Sadie Woods
(Editor-In-Chief) of Fluxcore Online Magazine, are organizing Rock
the Future, a rock concert benefit for local Chicago nonprofit
Rock for Kids whom offers free music education to underprivileged homeless youth
through out various locations in the city. Rock the Future features
local Midwest bands, Deejay talent and an auction hosting
merchandise from major label acts. The event takes place at the
Empty Bottle on December 20, 2007.
Rock the Future, an independent project, seeks to raise funds in effort to support Rock for Kids in their mission to provide music education, free of charge, especially during a time when arts funding and education are continuously being cut through out the city. Each year, Rock the Future plans to organize this benefit concert to feature exemplary, cutting edge rock bands and deejays to showcase a complete musical composition reflective of rock at its best, an inspiration for young aspiring musicians. Our premier concert features bands Hotel 45, Boatzz and Strange Young Lovers. Deejay talent includes Martin Atkins (PiL, NIN), Brock and Sadie Woods (Fluxcore). The auction will host select merchandise from Martin Atkins, The Faint, Local H, OK GO, Walter Meego and more!. Special mistress of ceremonies GiGi Deluxe of Feast of Fools and DJ Special K of Kiss FM 103.5 Chicago will host the event.
The event is being sponsored by Fluxcore Online Magazine.
Tickets for Sales at The Empty Bottle , TicketMaster and TicketWeb.
