Soon there will be an explosion of festivals, but for now, we've got Mayfest, a glorified Lakeview block party featuring entertaining cover bands galore, food and -- YES -- beer.
Every year, West Lakeview hosts Mayfest, a three-day celebration of, um, the month of May. This will be a typical festival experience with good food and vendors, but some of the musical guests (a.k.a. cover bands) definitely make the festival more fun. There's Too White Crew (old-school hip-hop) Elevation (U2), Wedding Banned (anything from Neil Diamond to Prince) and Hairbangers Ball (hair bands).
The Hometown Hero Celebration, honoring police and firefighters, will be held at noon on Saturday.
And, the 7th Annual Pet Show and Expo will go down at noon on Sunday.
May 16: 5 to 10 p.m.
May 17 & 18: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
