DEVLIN & DARKO:
(baltimore)
D_Dpromo2
Baltimore DJ duo, Chris Devlin and Ronnie Darko (aka Rockswell and Lord Darkie) met back in 1998, after discovering their mutual obsession for 1980s hip hop and scratch DJs. Both successful local DJs at the time, Devlin and Darko decided somewhere in 2002, to combine mixing forces and start playing gigs together. By that time we had been friends for a fair few years, starts Ronnie Darko, so we felt we knew that if we performed together, their would be an automatic sense of what each was doing or about to do, without a need to practice or plan it prior. We work on the same vibe, so there is quite a strong connection. Best known for being members of the amazing live act Spankrock, they have also dj-ed with the likes of Beck, KRS 1 and Gnarls Barkley, as well as finding time to start the successful monthly parties, Baltimore Bass Connection in Baltimore, and Fully Fitted in NYC and put out highly popular mix tapes with XXXchange ( spank rock producer) The DJs behind the genre-crossing party rap phenomenon of Spank Rock, Devlin & Darko have deep crates and they know how to use them. They mix everything from classic hip hop to Italo disco to French electro into a dance party that's populist without being strictly pop. They're adept mixers, inventive selectors, and genial hosts. Expect them to keep things bouncing until the very moment the lights go on and the sound guy pulls the plug. – Eric Grandy (THE STRANGER)

JORDAN Z:
(chicago) Photobucket A visionary DJ and promoter on the Chicago scene, Jordan Z.'s past and present parties have inspired and continue to inspire the city's club veterans and nouveau scenesters alike. The parties he threw in the early 2000's with Chicago expatriate Tommie Sunshine brought new blood into the Windy's clubs, but his current events are the most significant in his career. Dedicated to a no-holds-barred spirit he inherited from the eclectic radio programming in his hometown of Detroit, Jordan Z. has helped resurrect Chicago's reputation as a world-class dealer of dance music. Jordan Z's early 20's in Chicago were spent as a darling to the art crowd in the loft party scenes around Wicker Park and Pilsen. He rocked after parties for the Flaming Lips, got booked to play with anyone from new comers (at the time) like LCD Soundsystem, Glass Candy and Har Mar Superstar to highly respected nu disco don's like Metro Area and Daniel Wang. In the process he forged bonds between Chicago's dance and indie rock scenes, helping to usher in an era of cross-cultural exchange unprecedented in the city's history. Jordan's DJ career began at age 17, playing the "Three Floors of Fun" nights at St. Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit. His musical inspirations at the time included a the Electrifying Mojo radio show ("One of the most significant underling influence on my presentation of music to dance crowd"), the Wizards mix show's on WJLB, Wax Tax 'n' Dre, and parties where you could hear soul records in the same mix as Kraftwerk. Jordan moved to Chicago at age 20, then gravitated towards the city's vast indie rock scene. At the same time he learned became fascinated with older Chicago's post-disco genre bending DJs like Ron Hardy. Jordan now spends his full- time djing up to four or five times a week in Chicago, and booking his favorite talent from around the globe to play Chicago nightclubs, venues, shows, and parties. In the past year he's booked and played with other artists like Glasgow's Optimo DJs, XXXchange of Spank Rock, Hot Chip, A Touch of Class, Roxy Cottontail, Busy P. The Rapture, Cut Copy, CSS, New Young Pony Club, and many, many others.-M.Raymer
