Editors' Take

Veteran promoter, former NYC club kid and adventuresome lad Joe Vor-Tech spins at this weekly electronic music DJ showcase. Come out, watch as he freaks out on the turntables and help him pay his gas bill for the love of all things holy.

Joe Vor-Tech is a producer, rocker, DJ and avid Mappist living out of the basements that belong to various sets of people that Joe occasionally knows. Vor-Tech started as a DJ and promoted in NYC's "coveted" Club Kid Scene back in the late nineties at the famous Tunnel Nightclub. From there he's done such illustrious things as thrown a lot of most-likely illegal "raves", almost fell of a cliff on a 1971 tour bus in the middle of Ontarian Wilderness and moved to Chicago where at some point he lived in a house and did events at a place called "The Velvet Elvis". He's presently part of the electro-core band The Image Front, half of the DJ duo The BBK, done remixes for Houston Bernard, Yellow Note and Bikini Kill and just finished his seminal electro-bass track "Help Me Pay My Gas Bill" which is sure to completely and utterly change the world as we all know it. "Joe Vor-Tech" is also an anagram for "Born of the 4th of July." Joe, though, was actually born in October.

Joe also is a resident at the Modern Love nights at Liars Club.

THURSDAYS at SURA Ramp Chicago showcases DJs and producers who share their love of techno, house, tech house, and electro in a weekly series in Sura’s futuristic environment. Flight Deck nights feature noteworthy national and international talent while Launch Pad nights feature up-and-coming passionate local acts.
