Join Moonshine and Socca restaurants along with Jack Daniel’s
Tennessee Whiskey, as they team up to present one crazy rib
cook-off and contest. The 1st Annual Rib-A-Que Smoke-out will
feature
16 different Chicago
restaurants as well as award-winning amateurs, including the
first and
third place winners from the
2008 Memphis BBQ Contest, competing for the title of the “Smoke-out Champion.”
Discriminating foodies will taste several unique and savory rib
recipes and help determine the overall winning ribs along with the
event’s star-studded celebrity judges. Chicago’s
very own top toques
Stephanie Izard and
Dale Levitski of the acclaimed
Bravo hit television series “
Top Chef” will fill two of the judge’s seats as they crown the
two top winners of this friendly competition. Cash prizes to
be announced along with a soon-to-be-coveted “Gilded
Grill” award, and of course, bragging rights!
This rib extravaganza will be the perfect way to button-up
summertime activities in Chicago, taking place Saturday, September
27, 2008 from noon to 6pm. The competing chefs will set up in the
Moonshine parking lot as they showcase their barbeque skills
featuring several regional BBQ approaches, including the best
“fall-off-the-bone-ability.”
Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. The event
features live music by one of Chicago’s premier Blues bands,
beer specials selected by Moonshine’s
internationally renowned Brew Master Rev. Bob Kitrell and its new
onsite brewery will complement the rib tasting experience (vegetarians will love
the vegan-friendly BBQ options, too!) As if all this
weren’t enough,
Miss Howard Stern September 2008 will be on hand passing out roasted corn on the cob from
Socca’s new sister restaurant “Roasted” In her
own inimitable way. Socca and Roasted are owned and operated
by chef-owner Roger Herring, formerly the official chef for musical
cult icons Phish!
