Front 312: Gothic Funk- No Luck in Love (Event Over)

Front 312 presents a new concept in Chicago nightlife, by going back to its dance music roots.

That's right! We're back for another round of absinthe drinking, live performances, guerilla theatre, literature readings, and dancing to anything from classic Wax Trax! to the Presets with Front 312 and the Gothic Funk Nation.

While Black Automatic band members Mr Automatic and Adam Black might not have been around to get into Medusa's back in the day, they have developed a healthy love for the underground music that was spun there.  Combining influences like 80's italo, new wave, dark synth-pop, techno, and early ebm with the music of the current electro scene, they promise a night of dancing, darkness, and discussion.

Occurring on the 2nd Friday of every month, Front 312 features both local and national talent.  Last month, they brought out the DJ talents of Pilsen promoter/DJ Mr. Bobby, while Le Tourment Vert Absinthe made sure everyone had a good time.  This month, they've brought in Clique Talk to perform live and Adam Killing of Kill Memory Crash, whose music has recently been featured as part of the Adult Swim/Ghostly International collaboration Ghostly Swim.

As a special treat to coincide with the AWP Conference, Front 312 is teaming up with local performance art/literary group Gothic Funk for the launch of the Paramanu Pentaquark, a Journal of the Gothic Funk Nation.  The Gothic Funk Event starts at 8pm, with readings from local authors, music submissions, visual art, and performances that will occur periodically throughout the night.

Located above the Lucky Number Grill, the 2nd Story Loft is a spacious venue with affordable drinks, a banging sound system, and a fantastic lounge area for catching up with friends.
