Ghosts. Schoolmarms. Blind sea captains. Men who hate cows. Fortune-tellers and schoolchildren and would-be-poisoners.   These are just a few of the people you will encounter in the little seaside town of Llareggub (that’s “buggerall” backwards, for those keeping track)... and they’re not even the strangest ones.

Nine actors play 47 characters in Dylan Thomas’ dark but funny play about the dreams, waking lives, and relationships of the residents of this fictional Welsh town.

Opening August 27 and running through September 27, 2009, Caffeine Theatre (in association with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs) presents Under Milk Wood by poet Dylan Thomas, an artist whose poetry spoke to and influenced the works of Bob Dylan, The Decemberists, John Cale, Igor Stravinsky, Stan Tracey, and more.   Caffeine Theatre mines the poetic tradition to explore social questions.   In bringing language-intense, idea-driven works to the stage, Caffeine renews poetry’s place in public life and brings to light buried theatrical treasures.

From you are, you can hear their dreams.   Here’s how:
