The seminal Chicago Hip Hop label and artist collective All Natural Inc. & the Marketing and Event Production firm Ground Lift Media have joined forces to present the bi-monthly event series entitled ‘Bring That Beat Back.’  The launch event to be held 11/14/2009 @ Darkroom will feature live Hip Hop performances by Stonesthrow (Peanut Butter Wolf, Mayer Hawthorne) recording artist Guilty Simpson, St. Louis native MC & producer Black Spade (Om Records), Rita J (‘Artist Workshop’ release party. All Natural Inc. 11/3).  A Producer showcase will feature local beatmaking talents Scott Free (of the Lazerhawks) and Radius, as well as an exclusive live pa set by Black Spade. Supporting DJ sets by Tone B. Nimble & Sean Doe (All Natural), TREW (Ground Lift Media), and RTC (Ruby Hornet).

The ‘Bring That Beat Back’ concept is an amalgam of All Natural’s ‘Dance to the Drummer’s DB’ beat battle and Ground Lift Media’s ‘Big Bang’ producer showcase. As separate entities, both events focused on Chicago’s untapped fountain of production talent, DJs, and Hip Hop impresarios (Kenny Keys, Tall Black Guy, The Opus) and as a collaboration ‘Bring That Beat Back’ goes one step further by involving established, respected, and nationally renowned performers. On deck for future installments of the event will feature Exile, No ID, and Flying Lotus. Chicago has always been home to cutting edge, genre-breaking music, and with ‘Bring That Beat Back,’ we aim to further solidify our city’s position as a musical powerhouse within the Midwest, National , and Global music scenes.

Guilty Simpson Bio:
For years Guilty Simpson has been a rock on the Detroit Hip Hop circuit alongside those such as J Dilla, Slum Village, Eminem (whom Guilty still calls “Marshall”) & D12, Obie Trice, Proof, Phat Kat and Black Milk. A member of the Almighty Dreadnaughtz crew, Guilty emerged as a sound to be reckoned with after linking with producer Dilla in 2001. In the midst of recording an album’s worth of material on the MC – including the recently released duet “Take Notice” off of Dilla’s heralded Ruff Draft album – Dilla gave Simpson his first appearance on disc with “Strapped” (from 2003’s Jaylib album). 2006 marked his allegiance with Stones Throw Records – at Dilla’s behest – and appearances on both Chrome Children installments and subsequent tour. It’s taken years, but finally Simpson’s full-length solo debut, Ode to the Ghetto, brings him worldwide, chronicling a life led in the rough-hewn city that birthed him.

Rita J Bio:   Download  Rita J – Outlasted feat. Guilty Simpson, prod. By Willow Treez (UK)

After joining All Natural in 2002 Chicago-native Rita J honed her talents by appearing on her labelmate’s projects and various compilations, as well as becoming a member of the All Natural artist collective, Family Tree. Citing Nas, Black Thought, MC Lyte, & Buckshot as some of her main influences, Rita J “makes it sounds easy” according to okayplayer.com.  It’s this precise, smooth delivery that enabled her to bless the mic with a plethora of Hip-Hop luminaries such as DJ Spinna, Digable Planets, J-Live, Jungle Brothers, Stacy Epps, Stahhr the Femcee, Black Spade.

An active MC for the past ten years, Rita’s thought processes, lyrics, and message all reflect a desire to represent the voice and power of the female Hip Hop artist. "Growing up there was little to no positive female representation besides the greats of MC Lyte and Queen Latifah,” she remembers. With her debut solo album Artist Workshop set to be released 11/3 on All Natural Inc., female and male fans alike should expect the realness from an MC who stays true to the culture and craft she represents. Featuring: Guilty Simpson, Black Spade, Adad, Cap D, Yaw, K-Kruz, Rashid Hadee, & more.
