Experiencing a merger, new to the work force, or just keeping your options open? Network with people on your skills, job openings, and your experiences. Why did I start this group? About 5 months ago, I was told that our company would significantly be downsizing and merging with another company. Three waves of layoffs later...I'm still here, but for how long? I'm not willing to wait around. I'm looking for new challenges in my career. I've exhausted my networking circle, and I always seem to miss my chance by [...] that much. Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com never seem to impress me. So, that's my story. You always here of someone landing a job through a friend of a friend. Hopefully, this is a good stepping stone.

Well this here group seems to need a new post so here goes.

I'm in the tech sector currently but am looking to make a change into finance. I've met a few people and heard stories about the life of a trader, but looking to meet others who actually do it for a living.

Hearing more anecdotes about the job is fine but also looking for things like salary expectations, training or books I should have before applying, etc.

    While not specifically a flash designer, my primary job is graphic design and PHP/MySQL development, and the major tools that I use on a daily basis are Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash. I primarily build database-driven dynamic websites, and a lot of print/multimedia design work as well. So I got a job. A real job that doesn't involve pouring drinks. I'm not giving that up all together, but it's about that time I grow up and get a real job. One that has insurance, and paid vacations, and doesn't have me coming home at 3am.

So..........................

I'm officially a Tech at American Laser Center. Well, as long as my background check clears. ;) I interviewed Friday, and started shadowing today. It moved so fast that I blinked and was hired. Must be my bubbly personality.

So as soon as I finish the training this week, I'll be starting to do procedures as soon as a week from today. And the best part of it all is that I can get my friends some great deals on procedures. Now I don't know what I'll be able to get just yet, but you better believe I'll try my hardest to make sure you all get the best deal I can give without getting fired. :)

For those of you not familiar with the company, they do treatments such as laser hair removal, cellulite treatment therapy, skin rejuvenation, and so much more. I won't get into it all. If you want to learn more, check out the website.....
