I have stalked Snoop for years and really think that Wide spread is
finally hitting the mark, when you add these two cats along with JM
and 311 this is the concert of all concerts to be at. Really , look
at this line up and tell me otherwise. Exactly"

"Because with my savings, I'm going to purchase all the ingredients necessary, and stove over a cooler making one PB&J after another, so that I can feed all your hungry lil bellies after a late night of grooving to the best music lineup ever! And ill do it all with a smile on my face while serenading each of you with my shiny new guitar. And possibly, if yall havent eaten all the damn sandwitches, I'll do it all over again in the afternoon... but this time, I'll do it for the childrenz. In Summary, Tony wants the tixs so he can feed you and the hungry childrenzs some Word-Ass PB&Js!"

Rothbury's all about community
Weekend fun with total impunity
Not being able to go
Deserves a great big "D'oh!"
If chosen, I'd party so dutifully =)
We know music enhances the brain
When we're down it removes all the pain
There'll be so many greats
Playing inside those gates
To miss Rothbury would be such a shame
The world can seem to be such a great mess
So many things that contribute to stress
But a few days of fun
Relaxing in the sun
Enjoying music at Rothbury-I'd be blessed!
I have a best friend I call Jules
When talkin 'bout Rothbury she drools
With such burning desires
To fuel our music lovin fires
Please help us join those other dancin fools

dancin' at the zombie zoo -

Every day we all wake up to a new day full of routined acts that we have to take part in. You go to school, go to work, watch the kids, you do whatever is neccessary to get by. Things are so routined that it becomes normal. But that few minutes of excitement in your mind that pops up when you put in your favorite reggae cd is the reason why i have been trying my hardest to get to Rothbury. I took up a horrible new job as a server at a banquet hall (which requires me to wear a full tux uniform) just to save up. I took a sign to the Jack Johnson concert that said "I NEED MONEY FOR ROTHBURY" ( I only made about 20 bucks) When im in my room, cleaning or fiddling, I listen to Slightly stoopid and daydream of how beautiful I felt while I was dancing at their last show. That feeling of contentness is why I should get this free ticket. I need to escape the daily routine for a few days, wander away from the zombies I have to constantly communicate with, find my people. The feeling of being there is enough. I know that everybody in the crowd has the same concept on life, leaving you feeling you comfortable and welcomed. Please drag me out of my routine. I have been dancing in this zombie zoo for far too long. Let me groove to the smooth sounds of 311 and sing to the beautiful lyrics of Brett Dennen so I can quit this shitty job as soon as possible. I don't have the words to convince you, or any good reason why I really deserve this more than anybody else, because I don't. We all want to go just as bad. But what if I didn't have to doubt the fact that I could win. Everybody always feels that they will never get lucky. I never won bingo. Let me get my piece of the pie.

Hopefully you can help a hardcore DMB and 311 fan out.Last post 521 days ago -
A secret Gift from the Universe- The Law of Attraction -
Mathew Jun 19, 2008 at 11:54 PM1 post14 viewsMathew said "Greetings to all you concert goers, music enthusiasts, and online networkers. I come to you right from the HeartLan"Greetings to all you concert goers, music enthusiasts, and online networkers. I come to you right from the HeartLand of America in Central ILlinois. I know that the judges of this contest will find in their heart to share the joy of the Rothbury Music Festival with me.
In the last year I have embraced the power of cosmic energy and the magic of the universal laws. -attraction, co-creation, ect. - During a meditation session a few days ago, I visioned myself at the greatest gathering of like-minded spirits in recent memory. I found that all of my favorite bands like Lesh and friends, Mofro, Franti and so many other fantastic people and musicians had all come together for an inspired cause. To share love, freedom, and the dream of a cleaner and greener earth.
After podering this session, I realized I needed to be apart of the most r3volutionary music festival of our time, I needed to be apart of Rothbury Music Festival.
The only problem is I cannot afford the festival right now,as I am a working college student and funds are scarce, and the student loan debts are piling up. I thought about trying to apply for a volunteer position, but becuase of my faith in the higher power and my higher self; I knew the oppurtunity would find me and I would find my oppurtunity. That is why I truly see this contest as a miraculous meeting of fate. I know that somehow our energies will connect and you will help send me to Rothbury. I hope you can find it in yourselves to help me out and perform One Last Miracle - of epic proportions. With all of my love and light- Peace and Many Blessings.

A Mid-Summer's Night Dream in Reverse. -
Leif Jun 19, 2008 at 10:58 PM1 post37 viewsLeif said "The spotlight beamed hotly in the fading Michigan sun, as Mike Gordon gave me the nod. Not just any nod, but â&euro"The spotlight beamed hotly in the fading Michigan sun, as Mike Gordon gave me the nod. Not just any nod, but “The Nod,†my nod, meaning my turn. Not quite sure what string to hit first, I start picking away, working my fingers up the fret of the C-string of my Epiphone guitar. At least I think it’s the C-String. I’ve only had three lessons, so give me a break. In the end it doesn’t really matter, as the Rothbury crowd loves it. Attributing this at first to sunstroke on their part, this idea fades as I see JB and Dave Schools in the wings, smiling approval.
How the hell did I wind up here?
Just a few hours before, I was laying, half-in/half-out of my tent. I was fooling around with a guitar that I couldn’t afford to buy just a few weeks prior. A heated debate was going on nearby, as a guy with dreadlocks and a woman with a sunburn debated whether only drinking soda that came in green recycled-plastic bottles could alone constitute living a “Green†lifestyle. An electric cart hummed by, and paused, at what I thought was an attempt to quash the debate. Instead, the flap of my tent was peeled back, and Dweezil Zappa poked his head in and said “Play that again!†I thought that maybe I had done a little too much, well, partying, until Drew Emmitt grabbed my foot and pulled me out of the tent. “That’s the picking people crave!†he shouts.
I try and explain that I have no idea what I’m doing and Jakob Dylan puts me in place. “My dad had me playing his party circuit when I was three and I turned out just fine.â€
As they rushed me backstage, I wondered how I ever could of afforded this guitar, let alone tickets to Rothbury. It was a dream.
Then I remembered the REAL dream….
In the dream, it was a few weeks prior and I had just scrambled some eggs for breakfast. No hash browns, no cheese omelets, just scrambled eggs. I was a week late on paying for my second guitar lesson and made a choice….I would have no cheese but I would get a guitar lesson. My roommate was away, so I didn’t figure he would mind me borrowing his piece of crap generic acoustic. I stopped by the library on the way to check my email and my http://going.com account. And there it was….the Golden Ticket! I had won the tickets to Rothbury and a Epiphone guitar! I couldn’t believe my luck!
Then the cat pounced on my face.
She loves to do that. Thinks its cute. I woke up and cursed my luck. It wasn’t true. Damn it! Damn cat! Damn dream! Why don’t things like that come true? Awake now, I sat down and wrote what you see here.
Who knows, I thought. Maybe it will come true.Last post 521 days ago -
Why I'm Thinking Rothbury, and Not Arby's -
nichole Jun 19, 2008 at 4:07 PM1 post26 viewsnichole said "For one thing, Arby’s serves meat. Don’t get me wrong, I love meat, I just donâ€&"For one thing, Arby’s serves meat. Don’t get me wrong, I love meat, I just don’t eat it. For another, Medeski Martin and Wood, John Mayer, Sage Francis, Atmosphere and Busdriver (and others…of course) are not going to be at Arby’s July 3rd through the 6th! If they were, I would definitely go. Regarding environmental friendliness, Arby’s is closer, and I could ride my bike. We all know bikes have zero emissions, so I wouldn’t have to use gas to get there. But since there will be no highly respected and talented artists at my local Arby’s, I will have to drive to Rothbury. But there is still a way for me to drive and not use an extra drop of gas. How will I do this you ask? By carpooling of course! My sister has a whole Volkswagen Bus to herself and one other person! And since she already had plans for the gas in its tank, then I can just ride along! No extra gas needed! Genius. Rothbury also wins over Arby’s because I can camp at Rothbury. I don’t think a tent in the middle of the Arby’s drive through would be appreciated. And I love camping. I’m talking about really camping; in a tent. I will not be camping in a house on wheels. Those things suck up unnecessary electricity and energy. Nope, I use a tent and old blankets. And did I mention Medeski Martin and Wood, John Mayer, Sage Francis, Atmosphere and Busdriver (and others…of course) are gonna be in Rothbury, and not at Arby’s? You still may be wondering why you should actually pick me. It’s all here: I’m environmentally conscious AND active, I will appreciate the music and festivities like no one else, I am a genius for thinking of carpooling with my sister, and I sadly don’t have $251.75 for a ticket (that’s the cost for the level 2 Green Ticket). Pick me and everyone will understand why “I’m thinking ROTHBURY!â€

Lets face it, theres never many black people at these festivals, and I need to show up to add some diversity lol. I swear i wont be stealing, or doing anything else that im usually sterotyped to be doing. Im gonna be partying and having a good time. Of course people at these festivals arent that type, and thats why i love them, bc i can just be myself, and have a goodtime, regardless of the color of my skin. Cant do that everywhere. Lets go to rothbury and get down. Jungle style.lolLast post 522 days ago
