I live for good music and Rothbury is the epitome of good music. If I didn't spend all my money on tuition and all my time studying I would already be waiting at the ranch ready to jam. The line up is pretty much ridiculous and I would kill to be there (which as a future health care provider I probably shouldn't say). I figure I would be a great person to send to Rothbury because when all the crazy people get hurt I would be right there ready and able (maybe) to help. It would also be an educational experience and a chance for me to hone my party, I mean medical, skills. So if you send me it would be helpful/awesome for me but also for the hundreds of other party people. For the past 5 years, I have been traveling this lovely country of ours to take part in these special weekends. I've been to Tennessee, I've been to Florida, I've been to Vermont. I've driven thousands upon thousands of miles to experience the magic of music festivals. Now, this summer, I get the chance to drive right up the road for what is shaping up to be a weekend of epic proportions. I am thrilled that my beautiful home state of Michigan is finally getting some love, and I'm excited to show the world what we have to offer here. Not only will Rothbury open the eyes of others to the beauty of Michigan, it will also light a fire under thousands of concert goers who are eager to make a positive change for this planet of ours, through sustainable energy. The time is now, and Rothbury is the place. It is going to be incredible to see so many smiling faces making memories together, dancing freely to a plethora of great music, and working together to plan for a cleaner, better future for our Mother Earth. This August, I will be moving to Beijing for a year to teach English, and my younger brother will be heading off to boot camp for the Marines. I couldn't think of a better way for the two of us to share one last weekend together than this event of a lifetime in scenic Rothbury, Michigan.

Life is not fair: people that deserve a good break often aren't the ones that get them. The employee who works the hardest often isn't the one picked for the raise, and the kid dividing a candy with his big brother probably won't get his fair share.
It isn't fair that I would be picked for two free tickets to the Rothbury, even though I wasn't even planning on going anyway, and a brand new Epiphone Guitar, even though I can't even play the guitar, and I have no idea what an Epiphone even is. It isn't fair that I would get free tickets for a music festival featuring Dave Matthews and John Mayer, even though I hardly even pretend to like their music. It isn't fair at all considering that I've never even heard of most of the other headliners.
It wouldn't be fair that I would win, even though I'm not recovering from the loss of a loved one, I don't have an exotic lover to reunite with, or a sick family member who deserves just this one good deed before he dies. It wouldn't be fair that I would be picked for free tickets, even though I haven't been cheated on, or robbed, or turned homeless; and it wouldn't be fair because, frankly, 2008 has been just fine.
It wouldn't be fair that I would win free tickets, even though many other people have been waiting to go to the Rothbury for their whole lives, whereas I had never even heard of the Rothbury until the other day. It wouldn't be fair for me to be picked to get free tickets to the Rothbury because, I just returned from a music festival last week, and, frankly, I'm perfectly capable of sitting this one out.
I should be picked for the tickets because, ultimatly, life is not fair. That's just how life is: the boss hires the brown-noser, the big brother takes the lion's share, and some punk kid that doesn't even play guitar and wasn't even going to go anyway walks away with a mighty fine Epiphone and two free tickets to one of the best music festivals around.Last post 523 days ago -
